Glimpse of Glory

2023

“Glimpse of Glory” is a collection that sprang from my sole fascination for Drag culture, to my utmost reverence for those talented who perform it. “Glimpse of Glory'' spotlights the abstract aspect that births the luminous luster in the dreamy night, with the fanciful beams symbolizing the ego of love, and lust for life, and of the LBTQIA+ individuals who dare to flaunt their finest beauty. Those fragments of souls have always been, and are always struggling, restraining themselves in the guise of prejudice, always yearning to shine, to live in honesty to themselves.

With strong inspiration from the culture of Drag Queen and New Romanticism prevalent in the late 80s and early 90s, the details and silhouettes of “Glimpse of Glory” are primarily drawn from symbols and imagery connected to the tea room, where our "Queens" can shine bright. In particular, the way the light shines on the backstage wings and on the Queens themselves when performing in the stands; the opening and closing, the structure of the classic red velvet curtain or the fervid expressions of the Queens on the stage... in the vivid, radiant, high-contrast colors typical of the 80s.

All are fully conveyed through the goddess duo “Beckiay” and “Freakia” with sparkling sequin details representing the lights; max-volume sleeves, crop tops, and robes stem from the deconstruction of the powerful 80s Power Dressing inspired vests with a unisex touch. Adding in is the bodysuit with a unique cut embodying sexiness and allure, with the detail of ruffles, especially, to represent the rows of audience stretched out with loud applause and cheers. The two queens in unison devote themselves to the audience, liberating themselves as if they are on fire, shining brighter than ever in the show named "Glimpse of Glory"...
